the timeline
- July 31, 2002
- Checked the leaf basket and found one of the shubunkin had taken a wild ride up the bottom drain and
was mangled in the leaf basket. Amazingly enough, after laying flat on the bottom of the pond for a day,
covered in silt, with all appearances of being dead, he's now revived and is swimming about, although not
very steadily since several fins were damaged. We'll see. Pond pump is currently shut off pending decision on
"what to do".
- July 30, 2002
- Introduced three brave shubunkin into their new home, the large pond.
- July 17, 2002
- Had .8 tons of Pennsylvania blue flagstone (for walk way) and .3 tons of Oklahoma flag stone delivered,
and with the help of Randy Coke, got pretty much the last of the rocks in place.
- January 12, 2002
- Spent our gift certificate to Custom Stone Supply that we'd won at our church's bazaar
on .17 tons of Mt. Gold Thin Flag, .32 tons of Holy Rock, and .20 tons of Cloud Schist boulder.
Also bought and unloaded half-yard of compost/topsoil/sand mixture from Living Earth Technologies
to build up the waterfall.
- January 9, 2002
- Donna Robins and Kathy Zahrt complete the first phase of electrical work, burying conduits
and setting up grounded outlets for our power needs.
- November, 2001
- Pump was installed and configured several times before it really was working right, but now it's
working great!
- September 16, 2001
- Placed rocks around rim of about one-fourth of the pond. Already ran out of rocks.
Amazing! I told Dawn we didn't have enough. Added a couple dozen more mosquito fish
to the pond so the neighbors wouldn't all rise up in revolt regarding our mosquito
colony. Ordered our pump from Water Gardens Galore.
- August 18, 2001
- Brought in about 1,000 pounds of rocks from the neighbors of
Dawn's grandparents in Krum Made the joyous discovery of baby
shubunkin on this day -- seven that we can count, in our small
hard-liner pond.
